Lawyers on Twitter

I read a Twitter update this morning that contained a link to AmLaw firms on Twitter, but it didn’t list individual attorneys from these firms.  If you follow any of the AmLaw firm accounts on Twitter, you know that most just share links to the firms’ press releases; there is little or no engagement or participation.  (If you’ve heard me speak or preview my books, you know that I outline three steps attorneys must complete to CAP or maximize their performance on Twitter and engaging or participating is the final step required to yield results on Twitter – (1) Connect; (2) Assimilate; and (3) Participate.)

I responded to the tweet this morning and recommended Melissa Sach’s AmLawTweeple List as a better resource because it lists individual AmLaw attorneys’ (and other legal professionals’) Twitter accounts.  If you receive my monthly newsletter, Something Different, you’ve heard me reference this list numerous times.

Since I was sharing this list on Twitter, I thought it would be helpful to share five lists/resources of lawyers (legal professionals) on Twitter to help Twitter newbies get started with the first step of performing on Twitter – connecting.

  1. Melissa Sach’s/RecruiterEsq’s AmLaw Tweeple List;
  2. JD Supra’s 145 Lawyers (and Legal Professionals) on Twitter – the list now contains over 750 professionals and this is the list I used to get started when I joined Twitter in September 2008;
  3. Todd Smith’s Texas Lawyers to Follow on Twitter;
  4. Directory of Minnesota Lawyers on Twitter; and
  5. LexTweet.

Happy Tweeting!

  1. Thanks for mentioning my Texas Lawyers to Follow on Twitter post, Amanda. It’s horribly outdated now, but may still help get the Twitter newbies started. If I can ever get caught up on all my other side projects, I’ll try to update the list!
